Return to the Big Skies:
The Story of Miss Montana to Normandy
A Documentary Film in Production
" “Take an historic, over-the-hills smoke jumper plane that was last airborne in 2001, fix it up to federal standards and fly it to Europe for the 75th anniversary of D-Day. Maybe even drop jumpers into France, pulling ripcords of old-fashioned round parachutes and wearing suits their grandfathers used during the Normandy invasion in France on June 6, 1944.” - Kurt Wilson, The Missoulian
In the winter of 2018/19, a grassroots effort brought Western Montana together and returned a historic WW2-era airplane back to life, across the Atlantic and into the skies over the beaches of Normandy to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day invasion.  This is the story of that airplane, Miss Montana, and the people who dreamed of her "Return to the Big Skies".  Our crew captured the groundswell of community effort and the race against the clock to bring Miss Montana to life to honor the fallen. We are currently fundraising to complete the film. Get in touch to learn how you can be involved- details below.
